The all-electric Formula E series revealed on Tuesday that it has a multi-year global streaming agreement with Disney+ and ESPN that will include 144 countries starting in December of the 2026–2027 season.
A “landmark moment” for the Liberty Global-owned championship was praised by Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds.
In order to maintain wide accessibility, the agreement will supplement Formula E’s current portfolio of free-to-air and linear broadcast partners.
Every session on race weekends will be covered live by Disney+ subscribers worldwide, along with on-demand race replays and behind-the-scenes content.
Millions of new fans will be introduced to Formula E by Disney’s unparalleled global reach and narrative, according to a statement from Dodds. Financial information was not provided.
Next season, Formula E will enter a new GEN4 era with a more potent vehicle that can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in about 1.8 seconds—faster than a Formula One vehicle. There are 13 events and 21 rounds in the series.
The drivers’ title is still up for grabs as the current season comes to a finish this weekend in London.
In a five-year agreement starting this season, Apple will take over as Formula One’s official U.S. broadcaster from Walt Disney’s ESPN.
